In 2025, the People's Bank of China and the Indonesian Central Bank will renew the RMB 400 billion/Indonesian rupiah 878 trillion bilateral local currency swap agreement to promote deepening cooperation in the local currency settlement mechanism. In September of the same year, the two sides launched the local currency settlement framework for bilateral transactions and QR code interconnection cooperation project.
The Indonesian Rupiah (code IDR) is the legal tender of Indonesia. It is issued by the Bank of Indonesia with the currency symbol Rp. It is one of the smallest and largest denomination currencies in circulation in the world. It contains two forms: banknotes and coins. The denomination of banknotes in circulation covers 100 rupiah to 100000 rupiah.
The currency implements a freely floating exchange rate policy. The law stipulates that all domestic transactions must be settled in Indonesian rupiah. Credit card and non-cash payments are supported. In 2021, its e-currency transaction volume will increase by 42.46% year-on-year.

The name of the Indonesian guilder comes from the Gulden, a monetary unit during the Dutch colonial period. It was first issued by the Dutch NICA army in 1944, and the government unified the currency system in 1949.
In 2012, it announced plans to reduce the denomination by a thousand times but maintain the real currency. On March 18, 2025, the central bank implemented market intervention to deal with exchange rate fluctuations. In September of the same year, the Indonesian central bank adopted multi-market linkage measures to stabilize the exchange rate, covering domestic and foreign exchange markets.
